GDR’s Story

It is the team's deep understanding of the pain points experienced by people living with diabetes, and their scientific knowledge and practical knowhow, that is the driving force behind GDR. The organisation is undertaking research into the diagnosis, treatment and management of diabetes and publishing the results of that research, and providing advice for medical professionals regarding the most recent developments in best practice for diagnosing, treating and / or managing diabetes.

Position statements and research gathered to date has determined the direction of three initial areas of interest: the need for a complete treatment for hypoglycaemia, the need to mitigate potential harmful side effects of GLP-1 weight loss drugs, and the need to change current mindsets around detecting prediabetes - an earlier detection that would indicate pre prediabetes.

The illusion of a crowded market of diabetes management solutions, has led to a stagnation in new developments. Little to no advancement in hypo treatments has spurred the GDR team to delve deeper into these gaps, and present new models of care and first line of medical devices for those living with or at risk of diabetes.

Global Diabetes Research (GDR) was founded in 2023 in Queensland, Australia.
